We are a home that offers en-suite rooms or casitas for rent to
active independent elderly people. We currently have several
vacancies, please contact us for more details. Our contact
information is shown on our 'Comments' page.
Anyone over retirement age is eligible to be considered.
We have high standards of safety, security and service. Smoking
is only permitted in the garden areas.
A nutritious evening dinner is prepared by the House Manager.
The ingredients for a buffet style breakfast for self-help are
also provided. Residents are on their own for lunch with fixings
available.
While the staff run the home on a day to day basis, a voluntary
committee is responsible for the well being of our residents and
overseeing the home.
Before moving in, you will be asked to visit and look around the
home. We offer a 2 to 3 month trial period for prospective
residents in a furnished en-suite room.
Abbeyfield-Ajijic residents are free to come and go as they
please, there are no restrictions or petty rules. The few house
courtesies which we ask residents to observe are only those
necessary to ensure that all our residents can live in peace and
comfort. Residents bring their own furniture. The monthly rent
and service charges are reasonable as Abbeyfield-Ajijic is a not
for profit charitable organization and include:

Abbeyfield-Ajijic requires residents to nominate a "sponsor",
perhaps a relative, friend or professional advisor who can be
contacted and consulted if an emergency arises. No financial
involvement is required, just the willingness to offer support
if it is needed.
We are not a care or nursing home and our staff are not allowed
or qualified to give personal care other than in an emergency
and only for a limited time. Our staff is also not permitted to
administer medication.
Most illnesses can be managed within the Abbeyfield-Ajijic home.
Should a resident become too frail to continue to live safely in
the house, the situation and possible alternatives will be
discussed with them and the sponsor. Although it is the
resident's and their relatives responsibility to find
alternative accommodation, we will do all that we can to assist
you.
We regret that due to the nature of our home, we cannot
accommodate pets. Our home has one ‘house’ pet for the
residents’ enjoyment.
